#88 This Old Picture Book
I look at all these memories, and I start to cry.
I see things, I see people, I can’t ever see again.
I see people who I have mistreated, and can’t make up for doing.
I feel these memories are killing me.
I see so much I took for granted, and I cry.
I could never feel those feelings again,
I could never be there again.
I see things that hurt me, because I can’t remember them.
I see myself as I was: cruel, stone cold.
I never told anyone how I felt.
I regret that now.
I see how brave I was at times, and how I backed down.
I see how care-free I was.
I see now what has consumed my life. . .greed.
So, now I look at all these memories and I start to cry.
These memories are killing me,
So now old picture book, good bye.
There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the
other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and
the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.
