#90 Beloved, I Wait
Beloved, I Wait
Today a candle is lit
For a resolution
To a sticky issue,
Holding back life
Causing internal pains
Friction in the knees.
Housing, for the future.
It never mattered until now.
To own my own house,
Even a condo will do.
To save my trust, my father,
My godmother, my lover.
Years of rentals, leases,
Some undesirable, some inner city,
Mudbrick houses, stucco
Some with views, others no windows
All part of the journey.
Now, almost 65, it’s time
By an accident, a quirk of fate,
I face a chance to buy.
Late bloomer on the market.
Seek community with my lover.
May I, Beloved, be able to buy
And be happy in my new shelter
Until I die; may I be happy and
Peaceful in the retirement village.
May I have my lover as long as possible.
May he have me.
The candle light radiants the room
It’s almost midnight and a warm January
And a new year; let it be.
When a man retires and time is no longer a matter of urgent importance,
his colleagues generally present him with a watch.
R.C. Sherriff
Retired is being twice tired, I've thought
First tired of working, then tired of not.
Richard Armour
O, blest retirement! Friend to life's decline -
How blest is he who crowns, in shades like these,
A youth of labor with an age of ease!

The challenge of retirement is how to spend time without spending money.
Author Unknown
Retirement is wonderful. It's doing nothing without worrying about
getting caught at it.
