#68 A Pedagogue in his Twilight
He is a jaywalker who never goes on the pedestrian crossing.
A pile of books in hand and he walks to the school in time.
Some old students are well heeled now pass him in their luxurious vehicles.
But they never give him a lift and this well-read teacher closed to his retirement.
But nothing he has saved so far and still lives in the same hovel.
His solitary life is an exceptional as he was brought a lot of intellectuals.
But this unkind society won’t be grateful to him.
You could see the skinny from a far in the pension queue.
At the end of the month he counts few dirty notes with the help of his cataract eyes.
When a man retires and time is no longer a matter of urgent importance,
his colleagues generally present him with a watch.
R.C. Sherriff
Retired is being twice tired, I've thought
First tired of working, then tired of not.
Richard Armour
O, blest retirement! Friend to life's decline -
How blest is he who crowns, in shades like these,
A youth of labor with an age of ease!
Goldsmith

getting caught at it.
