#55 My life in bingo
I watch my card fill up before me,
the chips are running low.
spaces are covered in random patterns,
but there’s still yet more to go.
i was born on the free space,
and cautiously crawled onto N-35.
O-64 was the first day of kindergarten.
but on B-8 my daddy died.
I-23 was a tough spot in high school,
yet i graduated on G-48.
i set out to seek my fortune,
as the announcer selected my fate.
marriage captured me on I-19,
and my sons followed after.
O-59 the grandchildren came,
filling our home with laughter.
life passed quickly by,
right through B-12, G-57, and N-39.
the house is now big and empty,
retirement has long since been mine.
breaking out of my daze I ask for a repeat,
did he just say B-10?
i look down to cover the winning space and wonder,
would I do it all again?
