Biography of Dr John Celes
Original name: Dr.CELESTINE A.RAJ MANOHAR M.D.,
eighth child and second son of father (late) Shri.A.T.Antoniswami M.A., L.T., of Trichy(retd Teacher and Naval officer) and mother Mrs.Stella Thangamarie of Trichy(house-wife) was born on Valentine’s day of 1957 at Coimbatore of devout Roman Catholic Tamilian parents with well-educated siblings; He received excellent english -medium education at Carmel Garden Matriculation School, Coimbatore; completed his M.B.B.S., at Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore in Dec 1979; M.D.(General Medicine) in March 1989 at Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore; The poet started writing english poetry serendipitously and voluminously since May,1998, synchronous with India’s Pokhran II Blasts as an avocation and quickly went on to publish his two early booklets of poems entitled ’ The English Poetry of a new Indian Doctor-Poet’ volumes I&II under the pen-name of DR JOHN CELES.The poet has been working as a physician and is presently the HOD and Chief MI UNIT at IRT Perundurai Medical College, Perundurai, Erode, Tamilnadu, India since August 1995 till date, after working earlier as a Medical teacher at PSGIMS&R, Coimbatore since Jan 1989.He has written a number of genres and styles but specialises in Sonnet-writing especially of the Shakespearean style. He has submitted more than 1150 sonnets (world’s leading number of on-line published) at www.poemhunter.com and also at www.poettext.com; ndtv.com poetry corner; hangtide.com; Thepoetsroadhouse.com; Kavitanjali.com; poetry.com and has published some at voicesnet; poetsonly.com and other web-sites.Although he applied for a Guinness Book of World Records entry for his unique work, ’there is no section for literature and poetry- was the reply! ’ The poet continues to write albeit at a slower speed and is about to publish his major book of poems soon.His aim in life is to become a Nobel Laureate in literature for India soon! POETRY is a gift of God given to a select few; His poetry has mainly been one of Inspiration; Poets can change the world and make it better! Poetry is the best medium of communication from heart to heart! Most of his sonnets were written within ten minutes and typed out soon after! He has also written about 8000 lines of his Autobiography (incomplete) in heroic couplet style.His total number of poems written till date is well over 3500! He has rendered his poems at various gatherings to medicalmen. He has written more than 150 poems in relation to Medicine! Dr John celes is a versatile person and prefers a humble, quiet God-fearing life. He lives with his wife Mercy and his two daughters, Catherine and Christina at Perundurai. Bible in Poetry: gospels of St. Mark, Matthew, John and Luke and some stories in the OT were versified in April ’07 onwards.It was a unique experiment which helped me understand some difficulties involved.Hence, I was able to give just rhythm and metre and rarely rhyme and looks quite musical, melodious... ..
