Claude Esteban (July 26, 1935, Paris - April 10, 2006, Paris) was a French poet and essayist.
Claude Esteban is one of the major French poets of the last decades, he also wrote numerous essays on poetry and language, and published a number of translations, such as Jorge Guillén, Octavio Paz, Borges, García Lorca, Quevedo. He wrote many essays on art, on modern and contemporary artists (Ubac, Vieira da Silva, Szenes, Morandi, Chagall, Braque, Chillida, Giacometti...), but also on ancient painters (Goya, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Claude Lorrain, Caravaggio...). He was the founder in 1973 of the poetry and art magazine Argile, published by Maeght (24 issues from 1973 to 1981).
