"Love, by its very nature, is unworldly, and it is for this
reason rather than its rarity that it is not only apolitical but anti-political, perhaps
the most powerful of all anti-political human forces."
Hannah Arendt 1906-1975, Philosopher |
#14 The One Thing I Want
There's one thing in this world I want and don't know what to do,
there's one thing I want more than anything,
that one thing I want more than anything,
that one thing I want is you.
I'd love you so deeply if you'd only love me,
I found out you didn't wondering how that could be.
The tears filled my eyes as I began to cry,
my hopes of us being together I had to kiss good-bye.
My heart is now shattered, broken in more ways than one,
I lost the race to your heart I was hoping that I'd won.
My plan was not to give up,
never to give in,
my goal in this race wasn't to lose but something I must win.
I wish I could make you feel the same,
I wish there was a way,
for everything to work out,
for everything to be ok.
Maybe one day you'll want me,
want me just because,
and the two of us will be together,
the two of us in love.
"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." Aristotle
(BC 384-322), Greek Philosopher
"Nuptial love makes mankind; friendly love perfects it; but wanton love corrupts and
debases it." Francis Bacon (1561-1626), British Philosopher
"You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving." Amy
Carmichael 1867-? Irish Missionary
"Love means to love that which is unlovable; or it is no virtue at all."

"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It
has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has
the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like."
St. Augustine (354-430), Numidian-born Bishop
