#144 In the Light of the Moon
In the light of the moon
Crawls a struggling man
He has fallen too soon
But he did the best he can

His face is old and hard
Though his body is quite young
He once fancied himself a bard
None of his dreams were ever done

He prays to a God, still, faithfully
Through his pain, he still believes
Though he falls constantly
He can't ever let his heart leave

Somewhere inside, he knows this is right
Somewhere inside, he'll continue the fight

The man calls for help
But no one is found
He helped one with a quell
But to none, are they bound

A sudden chill fills the air
As a breeze picks up
He huddles on a bench, unaware
Of how little he has of luck

Asking for forgiveness
He prays once again
Does he really need this?
He has not deserved his pain

Somewhere inside, he gathers the strength
Somewhere inside, he'll travel the length

Cold, soft, tears from the sky
Fall on his poor ravaged body
He gives up asking why
As he feels the fading of his body

The clouds part that night
For just a single moment
The moon bathes the man in light
As he is finally spent

And so he dies that December
Though a life with many doubts
A man that few will remember
But that few could live without...
