#96 Jackie Brewer's High School Graduation - 1987

Jackie Brewer, meek and mild
- Nuts!

You are such a lively child
- Was! (a child that is)
-
- Glad you are not too, too wild
-
- just about right I’d say

'School’s out' – As Alice said
Doesn’t mean that life is dead
Just changing, like a different thread
When cloth turns from blue to red.

Your future’s here, it’s time has come
Soon, from home, your friends and you will run
To your newly chosen, independent occupation
Take care – try hard – enjoy – have fun.

Believe in yourself – you’ve got what it takes
Be true to yourself – you’ve got good taste
You can succeed in whatever you try
But try you must or life just slips by.

And remember, friends are there to help
When that big old world hands out
Problems that are hard to rout
- it will, it does, the world’s a lout.

Keep faith, keep trying and keep good cheer
For trying always conquers fear
If all else fails, remember, Jackie dear
Your wise old Dad is always here
(- or there, or somewhere!)

and your Dad would like to help

Good luck for the future, I hope it is all you want it to be.
DOD (Dear Old Dad)

You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world.

Your families are extremely proud of you. You can't imagine the sense of relief they are experiencing. This would be a most opportune time to ask for money.

The purpose of a liberal education is to make you philosophical enough to accept the fact that you will never make much money.
