#94 MY MOST PRECIOUS GIFT
MY MOST PRECIOUS GIFT
MELVIN D. BANGGOLLAY
TABUK, KALINGA, PHILIPPINES
P-arents are my most precious guiding light
Whom I owe my life with God's delight;
Today, I salute them with heaven's pride
For nurturing me with their love so bright
A-ll Mighty, I thank thee for blessing me
Parents whom I behold a love so tenderly
Whose prudent arms cradled me ardently
To be a man of values, valor and dignity.
R-ight at this very moment my heart recites
With every beat my tender heart emits,
Endless love for my most precious gift
Whom I offer my life and my every success.
E-ven if I'll be sown a millions times again
In this wonderful world God's made for men
I'll ask God's mercy on thy palm I'll still cling
For its indeed flowing with love so nourishing.
N-ature may vanish in every verdant plain;
Time may deafen great deeds of noble men
But never my love for it shall always remain
Shinning even beyond the end of my being.
T-oday, I offer to you with pride and humility
This diploma symbolizing my ardent plea
To reach the penacle of your dreams for me
That someday I'll be a servant of humanity.
S-ound of victorious march I can only hear
If you keep on sharing your love so dear;
Show me then the magic of your golden hair
For I need them to shape a future so clear.
I made this as the validictory address of the class validictorian during an elementary graduation exercise in 2000 of IAT Elementary School.
You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of
it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an
alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world.
Your families are extremely
proud of you. You can't imagine the sense of relief they are experiencing.
This would be a most opportune time to ask for money.
The purpose of a liberal education is to make you philosophical enough to
accept the fact that you will never make much money.
