#97 Last Goodbye

You taught me to walk.
you taught me to talk.
but before I could thank you
for all that you've done,
you decided
to go off and run.
you ran away
without saying goodbye.
you made me stay
and I still ask why.

mommy I loved you
I thought you would know
to this day
You still don't see
that with you is were
I wanted to be.
you hurt me so bad
and now I am mad
mom did you love me
did you care?
did you even know I was there?

well guess what
I am still here
hiding for you
and hiding the fear.
I have to see it
and ask myself why?
why did you leave
without saying goodbye?

I have these questions
inside my head
are you dead?
did you disappear?
there has to be a reason
that you left me here.
this feeling I have inside
is my love for you
that you denied.

I've felt alone
for the longest time
no word from you
not even a dime

until I was six
you played your tricks.
coming and going
or just passing by.
was everything you told me
a solid cold lie?
my love for you
atone point was strong
but I have waited
way too long
wondering and watching
as time flew by
asking if I'll ever get a reply.

now its over
my time is up
I have to go
but there is something
you have to know
day by day
I waited for you
hoping someday
my dreams would come true.

until they do
my words are final
I start to cry
but its time to say
mommy this is
my last goodbye.

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. Carl Sandburg

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right. Confucius

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body. Elizabeth Stone

Perhaps the greatest social service that can be rendered by anybody to this country and to mankind is to bring up a family. G.B. Shaw

In every dispute between parent and child, both cannot be right, but they may be, and usually are, both wrong. It is this situation which gives family life its peculiar hysterical charm. Isaac Rosenfeld
