The best things in the world
I kept searching for today:
But the Ice Cream was sour.
So was milk ashen,
Honey bitter,
The Indian caviar cold and dull,
The moon clouded,
The sugar pungent,
And even my old God a bit cold.
Then at the end of the day
I remembered my sweet little thing,
My daughter away in Pune,
Would be celebrating tomorrow
Her birthday for the first time
Happily with her Dear Husband,
And lo, my joy knew no bounds
Wishing her Many Happy Returns.
So Happy Birthday to you, Madhuri!
May God bless you,
With Long and Happy Life,
In joyous marital bliss;
And let you grow sweeter as ever.
