#60 Missing Them

All the children have come and gone.
Vacation is over and they have gone home.
The house is so still, I can hear a pin drop.
As I listen to the ticking of the Grandfather clock. There are no sounds of children at play,
Running and laughing all through the day.
Toys are scattered all around,
Still and immobile without a sound. Only memories of happy times we shared,
Remain and remind us of those who cared.
The time spent together seems like a dream,
As we return to our everyday routine. Already we are looking forward to when,
We will be with our loved ones once again.
Sharing our laughter, joy and cheer,
As we gather together in the coming year.

When childhood dies, its corpses are called adults and they enter society, one of the politer names of hell. That is why we dread children, even if we love them, they show us the state of our decay. Brian Aldiss

There was never a child so lovely that his mother wasn't glad to get him to sleep. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Often parents are working to solve problems without knowing what the real problem is. Unknown

The end of childhood is when things cease to astonish us. When the world seems familiar, when one has got used to existence, one has become an adult. Eugene Ionesco
