#22 January 7, My Birthday
I wiped the frost-covered bedroom window, so I could watch the leaves dancing with the wind. I, too, danced with the wind, but my partner's name was Mr. Boozer. Someone whispered, What's up old head? I turned and smiled at Lady Hangover. I thought to myself, How long had she been here? She watched as I stumbled into the empties. I knew that Corona and Coors needed no introduction. The lady's lack of interest in my lost six days awakened my love-hate, ties-to-lies for Mr. Boozer. She slapped me and proclaimed, It's your birthday! I returned to my window. I peered through the blinds flapping like albatross wings. I pondered, How will I celebrate this year's birthday? I could hear the wind. I could hear Mr. Boozer asking, Can I have this dance?

The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity. - Seneca

A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age. - Robert Frost

Even at our birth, death does but stand aside a little. And every day he looks towards us and muses somewhat to himself whether that day or the next he will draw nigh. - Robert Bolt

Because time itself is like a spiral, something special happens on your birthday each year: The same energy that God invested in you at birth is present once again.- Menachem Mendel Schneerson
