#7 Wedding Anniversary Poems

Dear Mom and Dad,

Together half a century,
Your marriage is inspiring
You've shown us that life's golden years
Don't have to be 'retiring.'

A charmer born in Texas,
Shirley's always set to travel.
Her bags are packed, and life's one big
Adventure to unravel.

A Georgia boy from Hazelhurst,
Tall Ivery is her joy.
His knee is artificial but
His heart's the real McCoy!

They met in San Antonio.
(The Air Force sent him there.)
She followed to the West Coast
And he wed his lady fair.

They've lived in Texas, Italy,
New York, New Mexico,
Wyoming, California twice,
And Colorado. Whoa!

In time, they had two children
They named Jenny and Jonathan.
They years flew by so very fast,
They wonder where they went!

Grandchildren? Sure! They now have four,
With loads of brains and looks.
They love their grandfolk - and they love
The things their grandpa cooks --

Like sugar cookies in the mail,
Or softest chocolate chips,
Or lemon pound cake baked by Bop,
Sweet treats for tongues and lips.

Australia, Europe, Africa,
(Our 'Ugogo' travels far!),
New Zealand, Asia - You can see
She's our globe-trotting star!

So journey forth together on
An anniversary cruise.
You're both Mediterranean-bound.
That's fine, romantic news.

'Goodbye for now, Bob Barker.
Andy Griffith, it's been great!'
(It's true that she adores them, but
She's still a loving mate!)

And when you get back from your cruise,
The family will be waiting
To hear about adventures that
We're sure you'll be relating.

So bon voyage! We'll see you both
Upon your safe return.
Your presence is the only
Souvenir for which we'll yearn.

You've raised us well and loved us true.
You really are the best.
We celebrate your fifty years,
For you have aced time's test.

Just like the roses that you raise,
You're splendid to behold,
A source of happiness to all.
You're both as good as gold!

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Love,

Jenny

Our wedding was many years ago. The celebration continues to this day. ~ Gene Perret

The difficulty with marriage is that we fall in love with a personality, but must live with a character. ~Peter Devries

Infatuation is when you think he's as sexy as Robert Redford, as smart as Henry Kissinger, as noble as Ralph Nader, as funny as Woody Allen, and as athletic as Jimmy Conners. Love is when you realize that he's as sexy as Woody Allen, as smart as Jimmy Connors, as funny as Ralph Nader, as athletic as Henry Kissinger and nothing like Robert Redford - but you'll take him anyway. ~Judith Viorst, Redbook, 1975da

A man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy. ~George Jean Nathan
