#4 A 10 Year Anniversary

Dear Kevin,

Two hand of fingers -- that makes ten.
Two hands we have entwined,
A symbol of the love we share
In body, heart and mind.

You've changed my life, and I've changed yours.
How could we each have known
The treats Fate held in store for us,
Together, not alone?

Our love's the stuff of legends.
You're my hero -- what a thrill.
Of course we met at Legends and
Heroes Sports Bar and Grill!

To work with you was so much fun,
We soon became great friends.
And when that job was over, well,
That's not where our tale ends.

The time was finally right for us.
Our true romance began,
For how could I resist you, dear?
You were a true man's man.

You have such magnetism, and
You love the great outdoors.
The life of every party, and
I'm so proud to be yours.

Who could resist those light blue eyes,
That salt-and-pepper hair?
You fill your Levi's perfectly --
A fit beyond compare.

You're up for an adventure.
You eat sushi like a pro.
And your first time on horseback proved
To me how far you'd go.

Eight hours in the saddle seemed
To leave you tired and sore.
Dismounting, you walked funny, but
It made me love you more.

You wanted to discover how
It felt when horses run.
We started out together, and
It seemed like lots of fun

But your horse chose to jump the stream
Until of running through.
You held on to his ears -- it was
The best that you could do.

I didn't mean to laugh so hard.
You held on for dear life.
I'm so glad you survived so we
Could join as man and wife.

And then, Puerta Vallarta
Put us to the acid test.
Through wind and rain and scorpions,
You really were the best.

You are a clever businessman,
A fine entrepreneur.
Our bar and grill in Utah is
A hit, you must concur.

A sportsman, you love skiing,
snowmobiles and ATV.
You're even good at basketball
(Though not as good as me)!

Your faults? Now that's a hard one, since
Your virtues are extreme.
But I still cringe when you support
That 'Dallas Cowpoke' team.

My darling, I forgive you, for
I know the day will dawn
You'll cheer the Oakland Raiders.
Until then, I'll just hang on.

But now let's put all jokes aside.
I'll speak straight from my heart.
I've never known such happiness.
I know we'll never part.

Ten years we've stood together.
You mean the world to me.
And now the greatest miracle --
We've built a family.

We stand together, you and I,
And marvel at our boy.
With Brendan Albert as our son,
The future holds new joy.

You are the dad of three great boys,
With great parental pride.
The love you show to your three sons
Must make them glow, inside.

So happy anniversary --
Ten years of solid gold!
I can't wait to discover what
Our next decade will hold.

Love,

Dani

Our wedding was many years ago. The celebration continues to this day. ~ Gene Perret

The difficulty with marriage is that we fall in love with a personality, but must live with a character. ~Peter Devries

Infatuation is when you think he's as sexy as Robert Redford, as smart as Henry Kissinger, as noble as Ralph Nader, as funny as Woody Allen, and as athletic as Jimmy Conners. Love is when you realize that he's as sexy as Woody Allen, as smart as Jimmy Connors, as funny as Ralph Nader, as athletic as Henry Kissinger and nothing like Robert Redford - but you'll take him anyway. ~Judith Viorst, Redbook, 1975da

A man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy. ~George Jean Nathan
