#2 50th Anniversary Poem

Mom and Dad, Carol and Dave,
Best parents alive, you see.
Now it's their anniversary,
Fifty years? Golly gee!

They met way back at a polka dance,
That "Blue Skirt Waltz" was hot.
Mom stole Dad's heart that night,
A life of love is what they got.

Both were students at PJ Jacobs,
And amidst sweet anticipation,
Mom got her diamond straight away,
After high school graduation.

Had three great kids in time,
Patti, Jane and Jim.
The girls were a pure delight,
And there's no better bro than him!

All lived so well right on the lake,
Emily's warm shores in our heart.
And as for water sports,
We all joyfully took part.

Dad taught us how to water ski,
Mom drove the boat with grace.
Even when she was pregnant with Jim,
That little boat was her place!

Dad had lots of jobs, of course,
First Preway, then delivering Coke and bread.
Selling for Watkins and at long last,
Stevens Point Brewery kept us fed.

Mom was busy as a homemaker,
An Avon lady, too.
Taught religion and then,
A Teacher's Aide is what she'd do.

The kids grew up, so fast it seems,
Each married well, and then,
As it often happens,
The grandkids came -- all ten!

Patti and Andy have four sons,
It's true, there ain't no lyin'.
All great kids, that Jeremy, Jeff…
Chris and, of course, brother Brian.

Jane and Jim have four also,
Two daughters and 2 sons as well.
There's Jenny, Jared and Ryan,
And Megan…all just swell.

And finally, Jim and Leigh Ann,
Have one daughter and a son.
They're dear Zachary and our Courtney,
All 10 are so much fun!

And incredible as it may seem,
Time, it sure does fly.
Jeremy married Angie…
And now three great grandkids…oh my!

Those great grandkids are the best,
Mom and Dad's pride and joy galore.
Mason, Lily and Syler.
Who could ask for more?

Our family future's bright indeed,
In fact, we just can't miss.
So many wondrous additions,
Like Tracy, who's married to Chris!

Life is good for Mom and Dad,
They've danced with faith strong.
Mom reads and shops with pleasure,
For Dad, hunting and fishing are never wrong.

On her 67th birthday,
Mom got a gift that goes without saying.
Her favorite picture, framed…an elderly man,
And naturally, he was praying!

She cried and cried when she got that print,
Dad outdid himself, for sure.
A token of all the love they share,
And will continue for many years more.

Mom and Dad, our anniversary wish
Is as bright as the sun above.
With thanks and joy and all the best,
And always, boundless love.

Love,

Patti, Jane and Jim

Our wedding was many years ago. The celebration continues to this day. ~ Gene Perret

The difficulty with marriage is that we fall in love with a personality, but must live with a character. ~Peter Devries

Infatuation is when you think he's as sexy as Robert Redford, as smart as Henry Kissinger, as noble as Ralph Nader, as funny as Woody Allen, and as athletic as Jimmy Conners. Love is when you realize that he's as sexy as Woody Allen, as smart as Jimmy Connors, as funny as Ralph Nader, as athletic as Henry Kissinger and nothing like Robert Redford - but you'll take him anyway. ~Judith Viorst, Redbook, 1975da

A man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy. ~George Jean Nathan
