#361 A whisper in the Wind
As I step out in the morning light,
a whisper blows by my ear,
A kind word hidden in the wind,
my heart fills with joy, my eyes, with tears.
The smell of the moring dew intoxicates my spirit,
the cool breeze and the slight warmth of the sun rising,
is like an orchestra playing the most beautiful music,
only you can’t hear it.
I close my eyes and begin to remember what it was like;the laughter I once knew as a boy.
Feelings of bliss wash over me
and I can’t help but smile as my soul cries out in joy.
I remember my father,who carried me in his arms,
even when I was, too big for that.
And my mother, who sang to me;
the way we stared at each other,
as I sat, in her lap.
Catching fireflies, hot dogs, and the fourtth of July.
Singing songs about Jesus and playing in the vacant lot,
pretending to be a soldier, pretending, to fly.
Perhaps I am trying to live in the past,
perhaps I am trying to go home again.
Or perhaps I am just taking solice from today’s sorrows;
solice by a whisper, in the wind.
